Losness goes to West Africa

Dakar, Senegal known to most world travelers is the connection hub for the rest of Africa. For surfers it is the half way point to Jeffrey's Bay or New Pier. The plane lands and only a few pasengers get off, military men walk through the aisle's with machine guns and then before take off The flight attendants walk down the ailse's spraying some kind of disinfectant through the plane. On Jan.16th by request of Surfer Magazine Losness along with Jesse Hines, Sam Hammer and Photographer Brian Nevins exited the plane in Dakar. They had not come to Africa to Surf with the rest of the crowds in Durban or get barreled at Jeffrey's Bay. Instead they came to search out an area of west Africa that has not been talked about since the release of the original Endless Summer movie more than 20 years ago. Ngor Island, Senegal served as the first stop for the classic surf film. It would be the same place the crew would be staying. The waves on the island proved to be well worth the efforts of coming for and after ten days of African culture and near perfect surf they felt as though they had conquered a surf trip that not many would even think of. For more info about Mike's trip to Senegal look for an article in one of the coming issues of Surfer Magazine.
